ok i want to trade a 78 ranchero motor which is a 351m for a 351c
read on to find out what this guys is talking about i dont get it?

Ok, You get the 351C 2V 98K miles engine from Intake
Manifold to the pan and from the back of the block to
the front of the block including the water pump and
distributor. A complete but bare engine, because I am
doing a swap.

I will keep all the bolt-ons and any trimmings
including the following: spark plug wires, coil, AC,
power steering, belts and pulleys, mounting brackets,
carb and linkage, starter, flywheel-flexplate, torque
convertor, transmission plates, bell housing and
transmission.

I will receive a 351M engine with approximately 40K
miles that was a running engine when pulled from a
Bronco, complete and not taken apart in a
configuration at least as described for the 351C
above. Any bolt-ons that you do not need or want can
be left on the engine or included if not bolted on the
engine.

You will give me $150 in addition to the 351M engine
described above.

You can come hear the engine run anytime we can
schedule it and/or hear it run before we pull the
engine working together to do it. I may have my son
and another guy help do some of the wrenching. I am
57 and leaning over a fender is not a great thing for
my back. Ha. I have an engine lift on wheels (cherry
picker). So we can pull the engine in my driveway.

Am I correct to assume you can load the 351M and bring
it to my place at the same time to off load, then we
could load the 351C back onto your truck? If not let
me know, so we can work something out.

When do you want to do this?

Best regards,

Len

ok if you guys help me if this guy is trying to rip me off or what? :damnit:

He is offering you an engine block with the intake, water pump, and oil pan.

In return he wants at least the same from you plus $150.

Looking at the difference in mileage it doesn't seem too unreasonable.

Edit: sorry I got the mileage backwards. Still, not a bad deal if you want a cleveland.

Doesn't that mean that he wants a complete engine, not parted out like the 351C described above? Anyway, you'll get an Cleveland with a 2V manifold, and anything internal all the way trough to the oil pan. Any exterior bolt on parts you can buy from him later on Ebay. :rlaugh: You do get the Water pump and distributor dough.

You will both need a new transmission. The bolt pattern on the back of the block is different for a 351C and 351M. (C has a small-block pattern, M has the same bolt pattern as a 429/460)

Is this a good deal? I'm thinking the 351C is going to need a rebuild before too long. I'll be that you can sell your 351M outright and find a rebuildable 351C elsewhere. I could be wrong though.
