HELP ME, PINGING PROBLEM, NEXT STEP = SUICIDE !!!!

Look at your IAT sensor. Look if it is placed "straight" in the coldair intake or whatever you have in there. The air is supposed to hit the sensor. But if it's in the wrong position, you might get pinging. Last year, on my stock 5.0 the highest timing I could or ran was 11*, on 91 to 94 octane. That sensor is surrounded by some kind of "U". The incoming air was hitting that "U" instead of my actual sensor. Just unscrew it and look at this. Could be it, you never know.

Today i have installed a manual switch for my fan and i have changed my spark plug for motorcraft and my car stay cooler, it always on the n of Normal and do you know what ???? i hear only ping at 120 mph in 5 gear, no more ping in 2-3-4, when i have remove the big plug on the side of the radiator i saw that the bolt on the top of the plug was not tighten well, it is possible that it was my problem, i will retry the car tommorrow in hotter temp and i hope to see good result

Now try setting your timing to 15 and try it. If you get no pinging try and set it at 20 and I am sure you will like the feel there. :nice: I have seen guys set it at 24 and be satisfied there also. Glad you took the advice and tried it. I ran 20 degrees on the blower with an 8 psi pulley and when I switched to 12 psi I have it now set at 10.
Duuuude I'm having the same pinging problems as bad saleen I'm even pinging at 5* timing, so today after reading this thread I took out the spout and started messing with the timing, I went to 20* without any pinging then I tried 25* and thats where it started. 20 feels nice, but does seem to fall off a little around 4500 rpms, but the car is also bone stock, so gears and exhaust along with a K&N might help that out, but do you plan on keeping the spout out forever?

Yeah that's the safest way IMO for my car. Glad you tried it and it worked out for you. I had it set at 24 max but I had seen other modded guys run 30 also. Make sure you unhook your battery for 10 minutes or so after that mod to let the computer reset.
