I'm picking up my 03 GT on Saturday!

After the break in period, I want to get some more performance out of it. 2003 Automatic GT.. what would you suggest? Will I see any real gains from an O/R X pipe and 1 chamber flowmasters? For the price, whats the BEST bang for the buck (gears are out of the question cause I'd need the chip, and I don't have that kind of money yet)

Since it's an auto, you'll definitely want to wake that tranny up. Some gears and a high-stall TC would work wonders! However, My first mods would be some 1-chambere Flows welded in an a Dr. Gas O/R X (or ProChamber)

Oh BTW, Congrats on the new Stang, you'll LOVE it!

In an auto I would go for gears or a cat-back to start with.

Thanks for the replies. I can't really do the gears cause I'd need a chip to recaliberate my speedo as well.. and that can be expensive

Does anyone know the cheapest chip I can get to fix the speedo in an auto with gears?

--imo i think exhaust will not only wake it up a lil but youll also get that sound. just the sound alone is worth the money,

I think you can get a reflash for you gears for about $100. gears will give you the best performance gain. I always do exhaust first because I hate stock exhaust.

It kind of depends on what is important to you. I always do exhaust, wheels, one looks orinted mod, then add mods performance. that is only because I hate having an identical looking car to someone else. I could have taken all that money and bought a superchager and had a bone stock looking car that was fast. so if going fast is priority I owuld get the gears.

Exhaust is always my first mod also. It's what gets the heads to turn. Even though I love my exhaust, my best mod so far was my most recent; 4.10's. Ultimately, it's up to you. Good luck!

If you have an auto then 4.10's might be to tall for you. I've heard most people say that with an auto 4.10's are just a little too much, but I don't really know. Personal opinion I guess. Either way I'm suprised no one has suggested a speedcal from dallasmustang.com, $99.99. I believe that they cover 03 automatics, but you would want to check on that. Give them a call or something.

Speedcal are mainly for 5 speeds. It won't fix the auto tranny shifting point on gear changes. Also most auto drivers claim that anything less than a 4.10 would be a waste, unless you plan on supercharging it in the future. I guess it really depends on your driving habits and how often you travel long distance. In my case, I rarely drive on the highway/interstate, so sacrificing a little gas/mileage for improved acceleration wouldn't hurt me.

But since you say $500 is your current limit, I'd recommend a catback. That was my first choice as well.

T & J Performance can reflash your ECU for $100. I'm planning on having my ECU reflashed as well. Here is the link http://www.modularfordpowerhouse.com/products.php?id=47
