Help me with this problem. Please!!??

Well, I diagnosed my ticking problem to be a pushrod on the back cylinder. Monday I took off my valve cover, and spun the pushrods, and one was a tiny bit wobbly. I took the rocker arm off and pulled out the old pushrod and rolled it on a flat slab of marble on our coffee table. It was ever so slightly bent. So I put a new pushrod in and torqued the arm down to specs, along with checking the torque on the rest of them. When I started it up, it didn't tick anymore.
Problem fixed right?
WRONG!!

Today I started it and it's doing the same thing!

Maybe the rocker arm nut is backing off.

Can anyone help me?

It is possible that the lifter may be going bad.

I thought of that, but I don't want to take the intake off and replace a lifter only to have it still tick.

Hi 68: If you have stock heads you better check that the rocker stud isnt pulling out of the head. The stock heads have pressed in studs, unless you changed them to screw in studs. there could be other problems here but this is an easy check and most likely.

Are you 100% sure that you diagnosed it correctly? The only reason I ask is that I have seen folks trying to fix this and basically going mad only to find out that it was actually a small ehaust leak instead. I know you said it was temporarily fixed already, just figured it worth mentioning.

That's what I thought too at first, but it sounds metallic sometimes.
