First off, I just joined.
I have a 1999 V6 Stang. Up until recently the thing has been running perfectly. Last week I noticed the car was starting to squeak really bad, like a cricket sound, somewhat 02v6auto described in his message. I thought it was something with the rear end so I took it to a nearby shop and the guy took it all apart and found nothing wrong except he said the squeak was coming from the break cable.
But that's not the problem. Everytime I hit 2,000 or higher RPM's it sounds like there is a monster cricket under the car. I think I have narrowed it down to where it might be coming from. I think it's somewhere up around the transmission and the cats. I just had dual exhaust put on not too long ago, they cut into the y-pipe and added some flowmasters. Even when the car isn't driving, whenever it is revved up it makes the noise, but much louder when I'm driving. Also, when I let off the gas after running around 2,000 or so in 2nd gear, I hear a ticking or slight knock, it kind of sounds like as if I'm running over a big, dried up leaf.
If anyone has any ideas or knows that this may be, help would be greatly appreciated!
