Help! My spare tire is Fubared!

Yes, thats right! Fubared!

So here is the story, Im driving around and I hear a "click, click, click" so I pull over and sure enough I've got a screw lodged in my back passanger tire. GREAT.

So, I take out the jack and crow-bar and take off the tire on the front of the car, take off the back tire, move the front to the back, and put the spare in the front ... Well as soon as I let the jack down the spare tire came off the rim. Well, not actually OFF the rim, but the edges of the tire popped into the center of the rim ... sooooo, it won't let me air it up or anything..

HOW DO I FIX THIS??? I need some help, preferable tonight.. Because I dont really feel safe taking a tire down the highway that has a screw lodged in it. Im afriad the thing will pull a firestone on me or something...

Can you put air in the spare when there is no weight of the car on it?

you need to have the bead set on the spare and the tire with the screw should be ok enough to drive down to get repaired,get a patch,not a plug.

ehh... not really... See the rim has like a "ditch" in the middle of it... (cant think of any other way to describe it) One side of the tire is out of the ditch while the other is stuck down in it. I tried pulling the side stuck out... but I can't seem to do it with the method I was using. I tried putting air in it, and air does go in it, but the tire will not pop out over the divit and set itself against the lip of the rim. So, as soon as you put some weight on the sidewall all the air comes out... is any of this making any sense????

Yeah, I figured the bead needed set.. .but can I do this from home? without a tire machine?

I dont trust the screw... all it takes is one good grip from the road to tear it out and have a blow out. I have a 25-30 miles drive home where I have 4 extra rims/tires (mostly bald, but infated lol)

This is ridiculus.. I can put a damn blower on a car but I can't fix a damn tire hahahaha

It does make plenty of sense, it sucks that it wont seat on the bead. I seen on TV where big trucks cross the Artic and when a tire comes offf the bead they get propane in it and light a match and boom the tire is seated. I would never recommend anyone trying anything like that though!!!

If it's a space saver spare, it's only designed to get you to a place to have the 'real' tire fixed. Why don't you take the spare AND the tire with the screw to a tire shop nearby and have them both fixed? Put your tire back on, and put the good spare back in the trunk. And be sure to check air pressure on the spare as often as you check pressure in the rest of your tires. And some of the space saver spares require as much as 60-80 psi....

try lubing the wheel with WD-40 to release the tire if its stuck.......

Or if you feel lucky,take some lighter fluid or carb cleaner,squirt around the tire bead and light,the fire sucks the oxygen out and expands the tire.we've done this a few time in the desert.

It's actually Ether that they put in tires to bead them up....not recommended, lol. The reason the beads came off the wheel is because there was no air in the tire....very common with spare tires that no one ever checks.
