Help. Need interchange info.

I picked up a 1979 302 (From an LTD) and would like to know what problems if any I will have just using it for the short block and putting all of my 85 gt stuff on it. The 85 GT 5.0 is roller cam with valve reliefs in the pistons. The 79 has good compression and runs good but has a 2bbl with a crappy cam. Not to mention the question I have about the flow on the heads.

The block is the same, the crank has a different balance. The crank, rods & pistons combined together are probably useable if you have the rotating assembly professionally balanced.

I am thinking more along the lines of bolt the heads on, change the cam and lifters and go with it from there.

I have heard somewhere that there was some mod done to the block or heads for the roller cam. I don't recall the full details of it.
