Hey everyone
I will be placing an order for a 2006 mustang tomorrow, however have a quick question regarding the wheels. I am looking at either one of the 18" wheels and am curious as to which ones are shinier, are they both the same finish?

The bullit style 18" wheels (Premium Aluminum) seem to be shinier in the individual wheel pictures but the pictures of the 18" Polished Aluminum on the car in the catalogue look very shiny. I'm confused as to whether or not they have the same finish or if they are different, I'm attaching a picture of each from the ford website.

Does anyone have pictures of either 18" on their own stang?

Thanks again,

Matt

Forgot to post this picture from the catalogue... Although it looks like the polished Aluminum style the finish looks different. I like how it looks on the car, does anyone know if this is what it will actually look like?

Ideally I'd like a high shine chrome wheel (similar to the polished wheels available on the lincolns). Anyone have any advice, it would be much appreciated .

Honestly I'd save the money, get the base bullitt wheels, and get some nice aftermarket rims.

I have te fanblades. Love 'em. If you like shiny, go for the 18" bullitts, as the fans are not shiny. Either way, it's your own preference.

I don't have an '05+ GT.. but all of the '06 GT's that i've seen with the fanblades are damn nice looking cars.. especially GT's in Tungsten Grey with 18" fanblades

I got the fanblades (they serve as my winter wheels now) and don't really like them much. They look like they belong on a V6 model.

The "new" shiny 18" bullit style rims look like torq thrust wannabe's IMO.

Spend the $$ on aftermarket rims.

Does anyone have a picture of the fanblades on an actual mustang, or even the newer bullitts?

Also I read in a ford media blurb about whats new on the '06 models and it says "The GT gains two additional wheel options, both 18 inches in size, complemented by unique suspension tuning" (source: www.edmunds.com/new/research/ford/mustang.html)

Does anyone know what this "unique suspension tuning" might be?

I know ultimately its my decision but the dealers in my area only have the 17" rims, I'd like to be able to see what my options are.

Finally in my second post, where I posted a picture of a tungsten GT which wheels are those (they look like fan blades, but seem REALLY SHINY!), are they not actually available on the mustang?

Thanks,

Matt

Chech out pics in my garage

Check out my garage for pics. People can't believe that the 18" wheels are factory installed. They look great and for the money you can't beat them.

Here's a pic of mine 2 days old (unfortunately after a rainstorm)

Edit: I'm going to take better pics and put them in the garage.

Any word on this "unique suspension tuning"? I called the ford 1-800 number, and spoke with my dealer (who made some calls). It seems that no one can give a difinative answer on this.

matty, there no difference in suspension. i was just in theh dealer checkin on the order status of my 06 and i asked him about it, hes not one of those dealers that just sells the cars and knows nothing about it, he said its exactly the same, why would ford spend money and keeep the price of the car the same, or optional suspension package., as for the orignial post go with the second set if you must by factory wheels, they look great on vista blue btw. otherwise save the money and buy aftermarket with some grippy tires..

Factory wheels..

I just bought my 06 30 days ago. It has the 18" polished bullitt style wheels. They are way better than last years wheel. I get alot more looks now with this wheel pkg than I ever did with the old bullitts. The fan blades look cool, just not my taste. This by far as cost goes is the best bang for the buck. Try pricing an aftermarket wheel and tire combo. You better place both hands firmly on your wallet when you see the money you will have to spend. I have not posted pics yet, but will soon. Good luck!

I'd like to see a picture of these fanblades, as well. If someone could provide a pic, that would be great.

The bullits are polished, they will require more work to keep them clean(polishing) but, they are "shinier". The blades easier to maintain not as shiny. Both look great.

The brochure picture shows one set of Fanblades as shiney (polished) however every set I have seen on a dealer lot have been painted. The 18" Bullits are polished but clearcoated so no maintenance is needed other than applying a coat of wax. It has also been said that the "unique" suspension on 18" optioned cars is actually softer settings to compensate for the reduced sidewall as opposed to that of a 17" wheel/tire combo.

I say "Be Unique"!!!!
Save your money by ordering the base wheels, then purchase some aftermarket wheels! Be different; stock wheels are too common...
Find a unique wheel that matches your style!!! (true-customization)

You guys are missing an important point. The whole point of aftermarket wheels is not just the shinyness (is that actually a word?), style, and diameter but also the width of the wheel. All the stock wheels are too narrow. Save the money for aftermarket wheels, not only will your car look better, but it will perform better too.

I ordered my car with the base 17' bullitts and would have paid extra for them over the fan blades. I've never seen a wheel aftermarket or not that looks better than the bullitts, it's my favorite hands down. I say go for the 18" bullitt's if money allows. BTW, how much do they cost?
