help please 1967 engine swap 03 cobra 4.6

Yes there are kits, DVS restorations (posted above) I highly recommend. They are courteous and helpful, as well as strong community supporters. If that '03 snake has the rear end intact they also sell a kit to install the IRS into a 67-70 chassis (don't know about 65-66 or 71+). It aint cheap but if you already got the IRS unit they aint too high.

thanks some much for the help? do you guys think thats a good plan or put a 460 big block,i have that too. derrick :nice:

I have no idea of the labor involved in each. But there is no doubt in my mind the coolness factor lies with the cobra motor. Not to mention reliability, parts availability, fuel milage..... Is there any way to move the t56 over as well? Seems like it should be a natural.

You'll have to take out the motor mounts, but the 03 motor will certainly be better. With basic bolt ons and a swap to a bigger SC, you can have 650 rwhp and tons of streetable torque. The T56 and IRS will also help to greatly modernize the driving experience and add to the cool factor. The car will almost certainly be a mid 12 second car with even a stock 03 cobra motor, with a pully, cai, and exhaust it could be down into the 11s, while remaining totally streetable and outhandling the vast majority of modern mustangs. I say go for it.

Both are cool. I have seen Fostang's project and I know what my 429 Fastback is like. Both are big HP and BIG Torque set-ups. Either way though you will have issues of trying to squeeze the motor in to a 67 engine bay.

Sadbuttrue: 650 rwhp?? That is pretty extreme. And I would say very un-streetable. Heck, that is getting into NASCAR range.

Hey whats up man. I bought that fox. :nice: I have already started modding it also. Check sig. Nitrous, boxed control arms for the rear and 4 cyl front springs are next. No sway bar in the front either. It pulls like a mofo already. Just having a traction issue so I'm looking for a set of welds.

My fastback is off jackstands also. Tomorrow my rims should be here some cobra's 17's.

hey guys will the speedo work and clutch pedtal out my recked 03 to my 67 fastback...

That's definatly something your going to need to work out but from what I understand no.

Unless you convert to an electrical speedo because the the tranny you have is an electrical speedo.

The pedals are not exactly designed for a 60's mustang but may be able to use with some massaging.

Correct me if I am wrong but I think that the 03 cobra engine is bigger than the boss 429. You will have to do some serioius notching. What you can do is get a coil over kit and totally cut out the shock towers. That will give you plenty of room and it will look really clean and unique. As for the t56 I am not sure how big the hump is in the 67 so you might have to use a sledge hammer to massage it in. Put the IRS in there and you got a great handling one of a kind sleeper stang. Good luck.
