not true, there are several peeps at svtperformance.com that are running 10s on the stock rear. does it slow them down? a bit, but theres no question that as long as 11s are as fast as you want to go its better than a live axle.
429... go over to the aforementioned site and look at what the Kenne Bell and Procharger guys are putting down. Many over 600 at the wheels, with only the basic boltons to the rest of the car. 650 is probably the topend of that, but these people are also driving their car to and forth from work every day.
i'll try and find the link for my claims, brb. remember that with a cai, pulley, and catback, these guys routinely pull 450 to the wheels, and that KBs and Prochargers can net huge gains on top of that.

But these guys are upgrading their components aren't they? DVS recommends not running the early IRS units in high-power cars due to weak components. Although Ford has upgraded the IRS for the supercharged Cobras they are nowhere near as strong as a 9". I'll agree the '03 IRS units are fine for an 11 second car but if you're doing 650 rwhp you are gonna be breaking a stock 9".

Ok some people run them yes. They don't last long though.
After you have upgraded them they basicly have no charasteristics of an IRS axle. They are essentially made so stiff that they no longer bow up and down.
Really pointless to have IRS that is very heavy then reinforce it to make it like a solid axle.
Believe me I know how an 03' cobra performs. Anything over a 2k clutch drop with some good tires will do nothing but wheel hop eventually breaking the rear.
