I finsihed my h/c/i swap and my car doesnt quite run right. There is no power under 1000 rpm and it barely stays running. Also I had to keep giving it gas for five minutes when I started it this mornin (under 30 degrees outside) to keep it alive. It does not have near the power it should have for the mods I put in, it feels weaker than stock if anything. The timing is set relatively low, havent had a chance to adjust it. The problem didnt seem to happen when I had my stock h-pipe on but I only drove it once before I put the o/r x-pipe on. I didnt hook up the tube that went into the cats on the h-pipe when i put my x-pipe on, I dont know if it throws off some sensor and puts too much fuel to the engine; which seems to be the problem because the fumes seemed very rich in fuel when it was warming up this mornin. Fuel system and MAF are stock if that helps any. Im open to suggestions, Thanks if you got any

I would first check the timing. Then I guess it would be a good a idea to check for a vac leak. Pull the vac line going to the brake booster and put a vac gauge on it. If the needle jumps all over the place then you've got a leak.

Depending on the cam you used, you probably just need a tune.

Didn't help. Plugged off the hole and went for a test drive. No power at all, back fired when I gave so much gas, and ran horrible trying to get above 1000 rpm in 1st. I might tinker with the timing when I get time.

Definitely check the timing and for any more leaks. I had a huge vac. leak on mine, where the egr tube wasn't seated correctly and broke the bottom ear on the elbow where the valve mounts. Lots of unmetered air made it sound like it had a huge cam and generally run like poop. Might recheck your firing order as well, since you had it all apart there may be a plug wire out of sequence. That's the easy stuff to start with at least. Good luck! :nice:

I agree with getting a timing light on it.

Is it possible the dizzy was installed 180* out (we dont know how badly it runs exactly)?

Good luck.

The maf/ect/iat/02's are all stock and plugged in right? Timing at 10* before TDC? The spark plug wires are all in the correct order, right? (13726548, counter-clockwise on the distributor)

I would start yanking spark plug wires one by one (cylinder balance test) and see any cylinders do not affect idle when you yank them, or one will affect more/less than the others. After that, I would check the spark plug condition to check your a/f ratio.

Got it fixed. It was timing. When i first got it done last week, I took it to my friends house who had a timing light and it read 10*. I bought a timing light and put chalk on the guage. It said 10* ATDC so I put it up to about 15* before TDC and the car rumbled like it should. I finally got a preview of the power, cant go all out cuase im still breakin in the new piston rings. Thanks for your help guys
