I was reading the thread about recommended coolant and after reading about how bad the orange stuff is I decided I wanted to drain the orange stuff I put in a few months ago and replace with regular green. I drained it, and then did the following:
1) Flushed (and flushed, and flushed...)
2) Filled the system with fresh water and ran the engine until warm.
3) Drained
4) Back to step 1.
Did this until the water was totally clear.
Questions:
1) In my Haynes manual it says to open the block drain and let the coolant drain out... I didn't do this, do you think the above steps were sufficient to completely flush the orange crap out of the whole engine??
2) My manual says the capacity of the cooling system is 13.7 liters... when I started refilling with 50/50 green coolant and water, it was to the full mark after only about 8 liters, then after running the engine I topped it up by adding another 1-2 liters (at most), is my system clogged? Or is that because there was water sitting in the block??
Thanks for the help....
