I'm currently trying to decide how to detail my engine. Normaly I wouldnt care but all the aluminum under the hood is severely oxidized.
-Does anyone know of a good way to take off the oxidation?
-If that can not be done is there a good way to paint the pieces? Do i need to clean up the oxidation with a wire wheel first?
-The other thing that i was thinking was should i powder coat the parts instead? Im not too excited about powdeting due to it might peel off eventually.

I use Autosol for polishing metal, it works great. Or you can scuff up the parts with a scuff pad (scotch bright) and paint them.

If it's heavyily oxidized you can scotch bright them then use a polish, you can leave them scuffed for a satin finish. There's all sorts of stuff you can do.
