HELP!!!! shocks and struts

Due to the eibach sportline springs and poor alignment job one of my struts has bent and my front tires are now horribly wasted! So I need new struts and shocks but cant figure out wat brand to get. I heard the Mach1 comes with tokiko illuminas stock, is this true? If so I found a set for $220 will they work on my lowered GT? Do I need to buy struts and shocks specifically for a lowered GT? Hows KYB and which is better between the gr-2 and adjustables? Please help asap I need to order these to be here before xmas..

The Mach1 Tokiko's are a good cheaper way to go. The shocks/struts are designed for the stiffer springs and lowered ride hieght. Eibach has shocks/struts to go with they're springs. KYB's and Bilsteins are good too.

Were you running stock shock/struts with the Sportlines??

Yea I still have the original shock/struts on there and it rides like crap now! It feels like it hops every time I go over a bump. The ride wasnt to bad at first but got progressivley worse as time went by...

Bilstein, and if you cant afford it Tokico HP "blues", they are more durable than the Mach1's. eBay has awesome prices for all of the above.

I have tokoco illuminas 5 way drag shocks. I have a coilover front end, but mine is lowered about 1 3/4 inches in the front. On setting #3(and light front springs (175#), its handles pretty good...probably about as good as stock, maybe a little better. I could stiffen it to #5 and im sure it would get better...but im a straight line guy, so its staying there lol.

Right now my shock and strut budget is limited to about $250 due to the fact that I have to buy front tires also. Im alittle skeptical about buying from ebay..how do you know if the person your buying from isnt going to rip you off?? because I did find some really good prices on ebay. What would be a ''deal'' price wise on the tokiko hp ''blues''?

small budget, go for some KYB's i've seen them lower than $120 a strut, you can wait for the rear, just get the front fixed

I bought my bilsteins off ebay with no issues. I don't know what I would recomend on that kind of budget.

I would not do the mach 1 tokico's. they are not illumina's. they are oem and they only have to be warantied to 36k on a new car. they would have no waranty with your springs. so I would look at something with better backing.

also buy fox body modles as they are 1" shorter of anything but bilsteins. billsteins are the same part number either way

I think I would try the tokico hp's in your situation. or just go down and buy something way cheap until you can afford bilsteins.

I have the Mach 1 shocks/struts with my Super Sports. Very happy with them so far.

I've got mach1 structs and shocks (tociko) steeda camber plates and eibach prokit springs....two years and lovin it

1st off if you lowered your car your stuts are NOT the problem. Most likely you will need to buy an aftermarket Cast and Camber kit...this is why your shop could not get your alignment done correctly, because they could not properly adjust your toe and camber because you dont have Cast & Camber plates.

Buy some C/C plates and THEN take it for an alignment. This should fix your tire wear problem.

I had the same problem on my GT when i lowered my car, even WITH my aftermarket struts AND cast & Camber plates. I took my car to SEARS to align and they couldn't do it right and my tires wore bad.

So i took my car to my shop at my technical school and did the alignment myself and adjusted the toe and camber with the Cast and Camber plates, and i put it as close to factory spec as i could, and my alignment is great now. Stupid freaking SEARS....

Keep in mind:
If you do decide to spend your money on the C/C plates and an alignment, you will STILL need to buy aftermarket struts soon. As the lowering springs WILL wear on your suspension more now, and will rapidly kill the life of your struts.

I bought c/c plates (steeda) when I ordered my springs it was a kit including the offset bushings. I was told I didnt need the c/c plates because it aligned almost to spec without them, I still have them here though and I will be putting those on when I get my new struts. Quick question on those, is there any drilling involved to put the c/c plates on? I have a friend that I took auto with for 3years and he is now ase certified but was asking me if he would have to drill to put those on. Also I found a new set of 4 shocks/struts tokiko hp (the blue kind) for 245 on ebay, what do those usually run?
