help....still can't get the timing right....

yeah....passenger side: 1,2,3,4 driver side: 5,6,7,8
i took off the valve covers and loosened up the rr's alittle....tomorrow, i'm going to leave the vc's off and hook up the upper intake and trying to turn it over....after i pull the spark plug and pull up the #1 cylinder...jimmy
 
If she is still popping and spitting like it's 180 out:

Take the cap off the dizzy
Take off the hold down bolt.
Look at the rotor before you pull the dizzy up and out
Spin the rotor 180 from where it was and re-seat the distrubutor. Might take a try or two.

that did the trick for me and fired right up.
