HELP ! Swapped an 89 engine. Now it doesnt start !

Well I disconnected the stock H-pipe and that didnt do it. Still wouldnt start. I dont know what to do now. When I had the engine on the stand, I had to swap timing covers for my 95. So I was directly at my timing chain. But for my 95 cover and waterpump to fit this engine, I had to remove some "bracket", that is sitting right under the bolt that is holding the cam in place/top timing chain bolt. For those of you who have a Chiltons manual, you can see this bracket at page 3-100 in the top picture(under the bolt and under the washer you can see the small bracket). Then I remembered wanting to align the timing chain properly with the timing marks so I just turned the engine over to see that the marks did matched. But I did this while the cam was still in place and the crank was still there so I dont think I screwed something there. Unless that small bracket had an important role. I was told not to worry about it from some knowledgeable guy that works @ my local SVT dealer. Us SN95 guys dont have it but the fox body guys have it on there.

What do do next ? Do I have an injector misfireing or blocked somehow ? Do I have fire on all plugs ? Is there a way to test an injector to see if the "plug" (2 male pins) is not burned or still electronicely ok ? How can I test the harness itself for every sparkplug connector ?

As you can see I'm in pretty bad shape and dont really know what to do. I really dont wanna do this but I think I'll have to open the whole front again to see if the timing chain isnt screwed up or something. Will install my 95 at the same time.

Thanks

with the wet plugs, and u saying u had pulled the distibutor to put ur intake on or drop it in, i would be willing to bet it is all in ur timing. if i were u i would pull it out and re-stab it to see if u can make it anybetter. i would be willing to bet thats ur problem cuz i have been there and had the same problems.

It FINALLY fired up !

To my surprise it finally fired up about an hour ago. The thing is I didnt do anything special. I just re-placed the engine on TDC, like I did 30times before and reput the dizzy pointing at #1 sparkplug. And this time it fired up :)

I first had it on the headers so the possibility of blocked H-pipe was still there. Then I hooked it back and it started again. So now it could of been glocked catback (Flowmasters). Same thing I hooked them up and it fired up again...and again.....and again. :nice: I then proceeded to set the timing to 12*. Will set it eventually @ 14* but I'll just let this old motor a chance of running again. Havent took it for a drive yet. It's now 10pm here and IF something happens, it sucks more at night so I'll just wait during the day to testdrive it. Everything looks fine. If it doesnt fire up tomorrow for some reason then we have some serious problem.

Thanks everybody for your help.
