Help the Dmv hates me!

So, I moved from Wa to Fl, bought a truck. The truck has temp plates. I need a Florida license but I cant get one because California blocked my ability to get a out of state license because of a DUI a few years ago, they say I need proof of residency, and sr-22 insurance. They denied the stuff I sent in over a year ago and never told me. Now I cant prove residency as I'm kind of couch crashing. I cant register the truck for new plates because I dont have a License I cant get, man it's one thing after another. Anybody have any workarounds now it looks like I'll either have to get my girlfriend to register it in her name, or register it from out of state back in Wa. OR drive out to Louisiana and get a license there and register it I dont have a damn
clue what to do! All I want is some damn plates to throw on the thing!

You need to get a bill in your name with a mailing address of the residence in which you are "couch crashing". Maybe a cell phone or internet service could be started in your name.

It just pisses me off that I can have a valid license, and still be screwed over because of California. I took care of all the DUI stuff, paid all the fines, went to the classes. But they are still screwing me years later. AND they never bothered to tell me! I had to find out after I bought a friggin vehicle OOPS!

I went to school in FL, and if I remeber right to claim residency you just need something with your name on it along with a FL address. This may be as simple as going to the Post Office / UPS Store and get a PO box. Not sure if that will work, but call and ask them if that is acceptable. Here is the thing, instead of saying the address is 1234 Fake Street, Box 4321, Palm Beach. Instead of Box, Use just number, or Suite, or room or something like that so the DMV does not know you have a PO box. I had a PO box in NC a year before I moved and it worked here for my residency.

Or as Uncle Meat said, have one of your friends put a service in your name, Internet, Phone, etc. Then you can use that as your address. Just make sure that the bills are paid on time.

Or, stop couch crashing and find a place to live....

I guess I'll have to wait and see what they want. I allready tried to prove residency once a year ago. I sent in a phone bill, my renters agreement with my landlord, my agreement with Divers institute of technology, all sorts of crap FROM THEIR LIST! It all got denied and Cali never told me. I had to find out a year later this way when I cant even get a different license.

And I not really couch crashing, I'm renting a room in my buddies nice ass new house in pensacola till after hurricane season. Then my girl and I are going to get a place out on pensacola beach.

UCF(University of Central FL) wants a LOT more than that. They needed my W2 statement, my parents W2 statements, My drivers license, my cars registration, and my voters registration.

Pensacola, I went to school at UWF for a year, until that Class 5 came and destroyed Pensacola Beach. When I left the highway went right into the ocean...Right near that house that looks like a UFO (if its still there).

If they are being difficult, then just keep calling or going by the DMV and eventually you will find a nice person that will fix it all for you.

BTW my son had a similar problem if you get the SR-22 insurance which is costly, you must keep it for 3 years I think. My son though he was slick and got the insurance and showed proof to DMV then dropped the insurance(didn't pay) and his license was suspended untill he got the SR-22 again.

Yeah,

When you drop or let your insurance lapse the insurance company notifies the state of FL and first you get a letter saying you either need to renew it, sell the car and show proof or risk your license being suspended. I forgot to renew mine and got that letter. I had already renewed but the DMV wasn't notified so I had to go on their website and put my insurance info in and that took care of everything.

Well fortunately Wa state specifically has loop holes to deal with this, I checked the "Apply out of state; Military, or unable to register in home state." Box and mailed everything in.

How handy is that! But the damn state makes 200+ buicks that way, oh well, cheaper than running around in an unregistered truck.
