Help troubleshooting

I have an 04 Gt and havent had any issues the last month and a half ive owned it the last 2 weeks randomly when i start it it will try and try to turn over then just wont so i will try again and most of the time it will start fine. But sometimes it will start and idle weak and die a few seconds later.....any ideas?


Also it has a bassani exhaust and between 1600-2500rpms its really raspy and sounds like somethings vibrating is that just the sound bassanis have or could something be loose and vibrating. Thanks for all the help!

My 03 had the start issue. It would NEVER start the first time I turned the key regardless how long I held it. If I did it for 1 second, the did it a second time....it started every time. I guess I was just so used to it, it never bothered me.

I think the Bassani is a little raspy sounding with an o/r pipe. If I remember right, they drone BAD while cruising at mid RPMs. I got tired of the drone and went to a new exhaust setup. I am interested to see how my new setup sounds.

Test your fuel pressure and check for vacuum leaks. Also, maybe change your fuel filter.

Nothing changed with mine with 3 different fuel pumps and I changed my fuel filter every 6 months.

easy to do fuel filter and if so where is it located?

Just replaced the fuel filter already running smoother, as far as the proccess found out my fuel rail doesnt have the pressure release schrader valve so had some issues at first

For those tests just take it to a ford dealer?

If you don't know how to do those tests yourself then take it to a good mechanic to be tested. Ford will over charge you.

called a mechanic here in town and they wanted 290 for the vacuum leak test and said tehy couldnt do the fuel pressure one due to the fact that i dont have a schrader valve on the fuel rail
