help with cd player

i just got my new pioneer cd player and i was installing it and it wont work. it will turn on and everything but theres no sound at all. i double checked the wiring and made sure that it wasnt on mute lol. i even rewried it to make sure all the connections were good and i still wont work. idk whats wrong but just seeing if anyone has suggestions on whats up with it

Did you use the wiring harness that you have to splice into the grey and black factory harnesses?

I had a similar problem. The answers I got (which seemed reasonable) were that you had to bypass the factory am that is bolted to the floor behind your factory radio. Let me see if I can find my old thread.

Would you believe I didn't. It's still in the back of my mind, but a clutch and timing belt in my DD and fuel pump and (hopefully idle air control) in my mustang have taken up all my free car time and money. It's just gotten pushed to the back burner for a while. I'll let you know when I get it done though.

You just need a harness that bypasses the amp. It wires up the exact same way as teh four speaker factory harness but it plugs into the square outlet and not the rectangle one. Check out the pictures on the other page for a reference if you haven't already.

I had the same problem so I just ended up running new wires to all the speakers. I couldnt find an amp in my car.

Before you get too confused with everyone's post's lets clear some stuff up. First what year is your stang?? Pre -93's use a different harness.

Hopefully we are assuming correctly that you have no sound due to the factory amplifier. Can you see an aluminum ribbed box behind the radio?? How many wires are in the factory harness the speaker wires are going to?

A shorted speaker or speaker wire could also cause no sound condition.

Now assuming you have a factory amp, bypassing it is simple as what you have done so far. What you need to do is look around inside where the radio goes and inside around the glovebox hole for a harness identical to the speaker harness you are currently plugged into ( i think it is the black one but its been a while). Once you find it all you need to do is unplug it and use that connector for your speaker connection from your radio.
