Help With Convertible Top Pad

I bought a new top from NPD along with the padding. I opted for the cheap padding because it's supposedly "like original but not correct material" and $80 cheaper. Well, I opened it up and it's just two pieces of junk material that were sewn together. It looks nothing like the padding that was on the original top (thick, very heavy material that has insulation sewn between it). My question is this: is the padding actually supposed to be two pieces of material sewn together, or should it be the heavy, insulated type?

THE replacements are junk and will rip apart, I tried them and had to do the job over, i went to my local sewing store and got some heavy black material and some 1/4 inch foam and sewed them together as needed, I also had one pretty good pad from the old top to copy from, just get the width and sew up one thats longer than the original mount it to the rails and cut at the front and hand stitch it together, DONE
I paid $32.00 for both material and foam and I think it a hel* of a lot better than there originals.

Are you talking about the cheap padding or NPD's expensive padding, the stuff they claim is like original that costs $100? I also thought about making my own and probably will. I'm really starting to hear some bad stuff about NPD, I always thought they were pretty good.
