Anyone out there have an Eclipse CD Player in their car? If so i would like to ask a question. When I disconnected my negative battery cable to install the new MAF Sensor last night, after I was finished, when I reconnected the battery cable and started my car, the cd player began reading the following messages: Security-Help, and then reads Security:7B500692. I am assuming this is an anti-theft mechanism but I dont know what the hell triggered it. All the buttons and dials on the deck are now a different color and it doesent function...Cant use the buttons and it wont play cd's, it will take them but it wont do anything. I hit the reset button 3 times ( the little tiny one which you must insert a pin into) but it still does the same thing. It just wont allow me to operate it anymore. When I bought the vehicle the cd player was already in it so if you're wondering, I dont have the owner's manual or remote. Any suggestions/idea's?

Thanks alot...
Kris

I think that means you need to put the security cd in. I don't know for sure though.

I thought Eclipse CD players stored the info on the first CD they ever played, and then if disconnected from power, you have to put that CD back in to make the unit function again.

I am not too familiar with Eclipse, but I think it is called ESP or something like that. It might be written on the deck somewhere.

Maybe someone else knows for sure. That was my .02

The only way to unlock it is with the key, your key is the very first cd you put into it when you got it installed. If you dont have the key you can take it back to the stereo shop you bought it at. Did you send the warranty and registration card in??? If not your SOL. I have one in my car and I just recently had to change my battery, had to take it to the shop to get coded.

Sorry dude those ARE your only options!!!!! I would suggest asking who ever you bought the car from for the disk or to go with you to the stereo shop and have the stereo warranty and registration transferred to your name, otherwise look into a new radio purchase.

Screw that... go buy a pioneer and be happy.. no codes or anything fancy needed... I have always had great luck with them and never had one lock me out from using it....

Security CD is needed at this point.

If an eclipse dealer could unlock the deck without eclipses knowledge - that kind of defeats the purpose of having "security" built into the deck

I had the same problem with an eclipse i bought secondhand, and ended up throwing it away. Nothing but Alpines for me now.

I have an eclipse deck and NO...DO NOT GO PIONEER...Eclipse is a much better deck IMO. The security thing usually has to do with the security disc that was used at first time running. If that doesnt work, then you have to send it to eclipse. Usually the security disc will work though.

ive only had eclipeses in all my cars, you can go to tweeter but they wont help you 2 choices, send to Eclipse or do what i always do when my eclipses go out send them to UNITED AUDIO (maybe united radio) there on the east coast i think new york they will reset it for you could cost 100 bucks, but give them a call they have fixed 2 of my eclipse TV's that i got on ebay that were busted!
good luck, stick with eclipse

There has to be a way around simply junking a perfectly good receiver. I would agree with what was said above, you need to contact Eclipse. I about bought an Eclipse deck when I did my stereo, but ended up going with an Alpine and don't regret it for a second. If you do end up needing a new one, look into Alpine, they have great quality stuff!

Slightly offtopic -- when I had my Eclipse Deck (which I really liked) I could set the security CD to any one that I wanted. I had to program the deck and then put the CD in and it was set. I could also turn off the function entirely.

Sorry, don't know of any way to disable it afterwards though. I burned a CD and kept it with the box for the deck just so it wouldn't get scratched or lost because I knew how bad it would be.

I feel your pain. The exact same thing happened to me a few years back. I bought the car with an Eclipse CD player in it. The battery was disconnected for repairs and then the CD player wouldn't do anything. I got in touch with the former owner of the car and he sent me the key CD to unlock it. Unfortunately I had already tried other CDs to unlock it and it would no longer accept it as the key. I had a local audio shop take it out and send it to Eclipse. They only charged me like $45 dollars for the whole deal which wasn't bad IMO. Once you get it back you can program your own key CD to any that you like. If you can't contact the original owner you'll have to send it off. Hope this helps.
