Hello everyone, new here and new to posting threads. I have two transmissions, one with I'd tag and one without. How do I find info on the one w/o the tag and could someone please tell me why one has wires and why the other one don't? Sorry if it seems to be a stupid question but we are rebuilding a 302 bored .30 over from a mustang to go into a 1968 Fairlane manual 5 speed and have two transmissions out of mustangs and need info to choose the correct one. Thank you for any help you can provide.

The harness/sensor in the top cover is the 'neutral sensing switch' (NSS). That was new for 1986(?).

You don't want the one with the tag. It's from a 1987 non-turbo 2.3L 4-cylinder Mustang LX. And since the one without a tag also does not have an NSS in the top cover you probably don't want that one either, unless it is a 1985 5.0L WC trans.

E7ZR-7003-AA = manual transmission (R) originally engineered for 1987 (E7) Mustang (Z), release level AA
REP-AP
1352-162 = 1987 Mustang 2.3L World Class transmission
79107 = serial #79107
L2071 = built on November 20th, 1987 on 1st shift

The one without a tag we'll need more info from, i.e. the VIN on the right side of the main case, or all of the "13-52-xxx-xxx" part numbers from all over the transmission AND the date code from the top cover.
