Please look at the link below. What is needed to swap this motor (minus the tranny, using the stock o4 tranny with new Spec clutch) into an 04GT? It comes complete, see below copy / paste part of the ad. Drive by wire, MAF, everything. This will bolt right in but what else is needed?

If the bell housing matches up then your trans will bolt right on. At that point the drive shaft may have to be addressed. I'd say try to find length measurements on the 07 drive shaft vs the 04 drive shaft. If you use the 04 trans then it may throw all the measurements off a bit. That is the only area I could see that you may have to address.

Not sure I understand. He will be using the stock 2004GT Bellhousing, Tranny, etc. The tranny parts on this motor currently would be removed and sold off. He would also use the 2004Gt stock driveshaft.

What I meant is that I don't know if the length from the trans to the diff is the same on the S197 as it is on the New Edge. So I was suggesting finding the measurements. That is the only area I could see needing to be addressed.

Check out to "4-6lpoppy" at modularfords.com. I know that he has done this swap.

OBTW, it makes a big difference if trying to use the old PCM to drive the new motor verses trying to retro fit a 2005+ PCM into a 2004 or older body.

Trying to run a late model PCM is going to run into a number of body wiring harness issues.

Where as using the car's original PCM (and locking out the cam phasers) may offer a better solution for the average DIY'er.
