I have a 2003 gt and my mother in law got me those dumb led strips to put in my car as a light for getting in I wired them into the black white wire from the dome light hoping they will turn on and off with the dome light they don't turn on when I open the door I have to turn the headlight knob for them to come on could it be I have no bulb in the dome?

So they only come on with the headlights or they will work with the door opening and closing but only when the headlight knob is pulled?
It's easy to check for a dome light bulb or not.... There should also be the map lights on the dome light, do those work?
