Whenever I'm going less than about 25 mph, with the car in gear, I'm getting a chirping/squealing noise, seemingly from the rear of the car. I also get this sound when driving on bumpy road at low speeds. The car doesn't appear to make the noise unless it is warmed up. Could this be the bushings? Or am I looking at an axle bearing or something in the diff? Any suggestions or past experiences are appreciated.

Thanks,
Derek

could be many things. U joints when rusty inside can chirp (it is often harder to hear them chirp at faster speed). it could be a brake chirp (not knowing what you have for brakes), etc. on bumps, if the spring isolators are worn through, you can get chirps.

not much useful from me, but bump. good luck.

Thanks for the tip....now that I think about it, I could see it being U-joints as the sound leaves with higher engine speed and faster car speed (more noise = harder to hear).

I'll check that out.

that was the first thing that came to mind - when i lived in the Pac Northwest, that was somewhat common. the joint looked fine from the outside, but the needle bearings inside were oxidized.

when i checked it, i unbolted the Driveshaft from the rear end and articulated the joint - it was not real smooth. (be sure to mark the DS to diff relation before unbolting it).

good luck.
