Help With Wire Hiding..

So I started hiding some wires today, using SonicCherry's write up as a guide (http://www.soniccherry.com/wires.html). I started on the drivers side, and like the write up said, I unplugged all the wires, and fed the front half behind the headlight, and the rear half is supposed to go into a hole in the back, which leads into the fender. My problem (so far) is that I got only a few wires through the back, but the hole is too small to fit anymore, since it had some hoses in it already.. Any suggestions?

It'd probably be wisest to open up those holes a little more and then round cover it w/some wiper tubing to make it look clean. That's what I did. I never updated that write up, it's quite old. I just leave it up because so many people ask for it. I'll edit it one of these day!

Anyway, I also know some who have taken the pin connectors off of the harnesses one by one and put them back together, but that certainly isn't anything I'm interested in myself

You shouldn't have to open it up at all, although you could if you wanted. I just did this yesterday actually - don't try to pull everything through at once. I first fed the biggest connector plug through the hole, took a little finagling to fit the biggest plug to fit through, but after I got that plug through about 6 inches I just started one by one feeding through all the smaller looms that split off the main one.

mine went through fine. the only thing coming through mine is a factory brake hard line

FWIW when I opened mine up it was because I couldn't fit one of the harness plugs through the opening AT ALL. What caseywan said is the way to do it, make sure to see if that will work before doing other unnecessary stuff.

Ive been looking at other guys different ideas and everyone seems to have diiferent opinions on how to run the wires, I know its time consuming and all these guys did a great job on their cars.I been working on my stang for a while now and this might help you out i used some of my stock grommet for this.That way it looks more proffessional(even though I did it). her are some pictures that might help.let me know if you want more pictures.I put other pictures of my suicide hood hinges and shaved compartment im working on.

Wow, that looks real good! The problem is I dont have the ability to take the engine out, so I am working around it. Just trying to make it as easy as possible with that situation..

What did you guys do with the big A/C hose running across the engine? I thought I saw some people re-route it?

Well most of your wires meet in the middle of your engine compartment so I got every wire that I dont need to go to the engine and ran those wires under the fenders, The only wires that are coming out of that grommet you see is the injector wires,the distributor,the vaccum lines oil pressure wire and the water sensor but they are all atatched as one any ways you dont really split that up. the rest of the wires on the right side will be headlights, and if you have airbags. the left side will be the coil,the horn, cruise control(if you have one,took mine out less weight and hardly use it anyways I think i waste more gas that way.Used my buttons for line lock.)I know Im forgetting something but not sure i'll check tomorrow for you.Oh i also put a grommet coming out of the left side of driverside I'll post some pictures later for you.

I took my ac off when I lived in cali..Regret it now I live in AZ. But anyway I took mine out.

I don't have specifics because I am just going to start this tonight but if you have your dash apart it looks pretty easy. You have to pull the big bundles apart to isolate the smaller ones it looks like and then it looks like you can pull what you need inside to run behind the dash. Would be simpler if the engine was out too but I am going to attempt it with it still in. I will post some pics hopefully as I go.

So I started the wire hiding with the driver side.. After taking out the fender wall and getting all the wires and solenoid under there, I tried to start the car to make sure it was working ok.. All of the power works, lights work, etc.. But when I turn the key all the way to start, I get no crank.. Kind of like trying to start the car with your foot off the clutch, any help?

well step on the clutch then you can start the car......lol JK well check your wires to the solenoid.maybe you forgot to put something back

There is no real right way to hide wires, just what ever works, happen to have mine apart right now, here's some pics. Maybe this will give you some more ideas.

Are you still able to use your plastic splash shields with everything move outside like that?

yes, I'll post up some more as i get farther. Some of these mods were already done before this last tear down, so I know they fit.
