How’s it going, I just bought a 1969 mustang coupe and I don’t have too much mechanical experience, the car should be quick but it’s not at all, it has a 347 stroker, it’s on race gas, it’s got a ford performance 9in rear end, cal tracs, pretty much everything to make it a quick car, it’s got a “built c4 transmission” with a trans brake, but the car will not even break the rear wheels loose, I assume it’s the torque converter, the previous owner said he put a 2500 stall converter, but being that it’s got a decently big cam I would assume it needs a higher stall converter, but I’m not sure what it could be. Any help would be amazing, this is my first project car, just turned 18 and have little to no clue what to do

Be more specific, what do you mean by it’s not quick enough? When you plant the gas pedal to the floor from a stop, what happens? What you’ve told us it’s quite enough for us to help. Good luck.
Sounds like the parking brake in on.
But seriously you need to go over the whole car since its new to you.
Start with a in depth tune up. But look into how to do it first.
Either look up on line or get to a car meet like cars and coffee ,find an old fart like me who could teach you.

Oh interesting, the previous owner said the parking brake was never hooked back up, so I’m curious if he was mistaken. I will for sure be taking the car out to some cars and coffees and trying to get some help there as well, thanks for the help
I would have no clue, I don’t know enough to be able to tell you if it does or doesn’t, it is carbureted though
Would my best bet be to take it to a performance shop for them to advance the timing?

I agree, just do a basic tuneup first. It may be something simple. If you don’t know how to do that, time to learn. And, buy yourself a few tools to do the job. It’s part of owning one of these cars. Good luck.
At this point, I think your best bet would be to go to [any] good mechanic and have it looked over.
