Here are some questions for ya!

Can a short in the alternator cause a drop in top end power, like a skip or miss. Ive got lots of low end grunt but after the tires stop spinning there is nothing. The connecter to the Alt is mutilated due to a previous Alt fire. Second, did all 92 mustangs come with POSI? Im going to the junk yard tomarrow to get the wiring from the alt to the battery. AND third, Imma pull my lifters out and check to see if some are collapsed, how do I tell?

i would say yes on the alt prob , cuz my bike used to miss w/ 2 bad coils. but until the batt started to run down...(stator was bad too) it ran perfect

all 5.0's came w/ trac loc...not really full posi, but if you pull one try for a newer car and take the carrier as well.

lifters...??? no clue

I don't know that an alt problem would cause a miss at high RPM and running fine at low RPM. That doesn't sound right to me.

As for the Trac-Lok -- it is the Ford name for a limited slip. Posi-Trac is the GM name. Same difference.

I agree with Adam - I dont see the alternator creating a miss, esp if you have decent charging system power afterwards.

I like the tune up idea. Bad wires will often allow jumping at higher rpms. Plat plugs can cause missing for some folks. and a weak coil can rear its head at higher revs.

Good luck.
