the 4 millon residents not in the evacuation zones are being asked to stay. 1 million people in the closest zip codes to the shore and flood zones are under mandatory evacutations. I've just north of it, and not being asked to leave. They don't want another "RITA" evacuation where it took some people 30 hrs to go 200 miles.

I already jumped ship though, took one of the last flights out today to the family river house. I have no idea why they are not asking for a mandatory evacutation of more areas though. Houston is expected to have winds of 90-110 miles per hour.

Stay safe guys.

Gas prices jumped $.40 at some stations today, and I live in SC.

Local news stations are saying to expect $5.00 a gallon by the morning. Gas stations have put a 10 gallon limit per customer.

****ing BS, I am irate right now with our country and economy.

Hope you guys hang in there.

We got hit with the high winds here in the Cincy area as well on Sunday, gusts of 75+ mph. At one point almost 700,000 customers had no power and many areas will have none until late in the week, there are trees down everywhere. I can only imagine having been hit by the full force of the storm. Hope everyone in Houston made out ok, I was merely inconvinienced with no power for 14 hours.

My car did almost take a bit of damage. Storm started hitting while at my daughter's soccer game so had to drive through it. Almost got hit by a 4 ft section of plywood, had something about the size of a softball hit the windshield (luckily it held and didn't even crack) and I had to straddle a large branch as I was going up a hill which hit the bottom end fairly good no damage that I can see. When I got home I promply parked in the front yard where I have no trees. Saw several vehicles in the neighborhood hit by falling trees.

I'm alive and posting due to a generator

My area isn't looking too great though no injuries to any family or close friends. I was one of the lucky ones in my neighborhood and only had 1 tree on the house which didn't cause much damage though 3 houses visible from my place are totally wiped out with trees laying all the way through. Somewhat scary that the cat 2 did this amount of damage but that is just mother nature I guess.

I have power since yesterday, everything is good. The weather people are saying that the damage in the coastal areas is equivalent to a strong 4, because of the right angle the storm surge and winds made with the galveston coast at landfall.

I am glad you guys made it out OK!!! I have been thinking about you all that live in that area.

Glad your kittys are OK too, my kitty is my best buddy and I can't imagine losing her...

We are going to be without lights for quite some time out in my area. That's the downside of the "sticks"

Still running the generator and gas has finally made it out this way. MREs aren't the best, but beat the hell out of nothing

good luck guys, living in south florida I know all about what hurricanes can do. Last major hurricane that hit us about 3 years ago resulted in me and my family being without clean water or power for 3 weeks. hang in there
