So are you saying the shear pin on the crank snapped? That tells me your cam siezed up first. The came could have siezed from maybe a couple likely sources. You had problems with a wierd knocking sound from the motor, which (at this point) I'm thinking it was a valve hitting a piston likely due to an overtightened rocker and/or too-long of a pushrod.

So my theory is that with a valve hitting a piston, that constant indirect hammering on the shear pin and/or cam bolt just killed it.

You better pull your heads. There coule likely be damage to the heads, block, pistons.

maybe something came loose after driving it for 300 miles? at this point anything is possible without digging back in and finding out for sure.
just keep your cool and start over again. i'm telling you to keep your cool, cause i would hate to see you lace up you stang with that AK you posted up in that gun thread.

Been here done this. You probably bent the valves open...at least you didnt blow the hood and manifold off like me! Pull the heads and have a machine shop put in new valve guides and valves...you'll be set. Manley makes inexpensive replacement valves.

i look tru the heads, and i can see the bar from the valves, they look straight, all are stiff. i really dont feel like taking the heads of right now. then i would have no money for the gaskets. im out of dough right now!!!!

ughhhh this sucks guero. If you hit the valves hard you most likely bend the pr's. Take a couple pr's out and take a look. I bent some once, and at first glance i couldnt see the bend, but at closer inspection they sure had a slight bend.
