hesitation around 2800/3000 rpms

I have a 05 gt, 5 speed manual. I noticed today that around 2800 to 3000 rpms there seems to be a slight miss or hesitation. It is almost as if you let off of the accelerator a bit. It is more noticeable if you are slowly accelerating in first gear. The car has 1900 miles. Has anyone else experienced this?

Even with the hesitation it still ran good enough today to smoke the hell out of a LT1 comaro.

Yeah, we all drive automatics . You may be able to "hit the gas and you are gone" easily in an automatic, but I bet you aren't having anywhere near the fun driving your car. Plus, what does this even have to do with his question.

8874, I haven't noticed a lag at those RPMs, but I will be sure to check it next time I drive the car and see if I have the problem too. Nice kill by the way .

i have the same problem,i think 4.10 gears and a tune will fix it

YOU ARE RIGHT!!!

Having a stick (and I've had them) is much more fun than an automatic even though you can still shift and automatic through the gears...

There is nothing like hitting an open road and going through the gears, one by one until you reach max speed... What a great sound and the rumble of those pipes at your back can not be matched...

But in Chicago, there is so much "stop and go" that having a stick is a real pain in the a____...

Not going over 15 or 20 MPH then stopping for several miles with a stick can change a man into a automatic maniac!!!

If I lived where you probably live, I would have gotten a stick...

Mountains and the desert are great experiences with a stick...

I figured you lived in a big city and an auto was basically a necessity in order to not go insane. I live in a mostly rural area and the manual is only annoying to drive when I get closer to the city.

I have this exact problem and I can reproduce it every time.
Try putting it in 3rd gear and accelerating from like 1000 rpms and
it will hesitate everytime right around 1800 on my car... It sucks bad because
on the free way this hesitation is right round 68mph in 5th gear so if I gas it the car hesitates... The only problem so far with my stang...

Has yours gone away yet? I don't think it's gas because it only does the hesitation at a certain rpm.

By any chance did all you guys have the AC on? Try turning off the AC completely and see if you can duplicate the problem. I've heard having the AC compressor active can cause a slight hesitation when the system shifts power off of the AC to the drive.

what's fun about 9 red lights within 1.5 miles, I don't consider shifting a million times fun. And just to be clear, I have a 91 LX 5.0 that runs 12.2@110 with a 5-speed, and my 05 auto is so much more consistent.

It is alot worse with the AC on... It's barely noticable with it off... So yea I think there is some kind of link, but it's sad because none of my other cars had this problem (wrx,evo,rx7)...

Yeah. The AC has a "clutch" that can be disengaged when a certain threshold of throttle is detected. There is a slight hesitation at that point.

turned AC off today and drove home from work... the misfire / hesitation problem is getting worse and worse... I think this might be that TSB problem "ENGINE MISFIRE OR ROUGH RUNNING - COIL ON PLUG (COP) IGNITION SYSTEMS"

Sounds like my problem right there, yet I have no check engine light coming on...

Mine does it the same with the ac on or off. I have an appointment tuesday to take to the dealer and let them diagnose the problem. I will post back what the problem is.

Hey guys, I have a good news update on this very real problem... I took my car in this morning, got a free oil change for some reason, and they found out I had a misfire in cylinder 8 and said they had to replace a coil and I think it was related to that TSB that is out for several new ford vehicles... So they claimed they fixed it and I'll pick it up tonight. I'll report on whether or not they got it straightened out. I assume that was it!

So if you have misfire or hesitation, I'm thinking you should have ford fix it on that TSB!

Took mine in, me and the tech hooked computer up and drove it down the road. He said it was the runner control in the intake opening causing the hesitation. He called ford and they said it was normal, I don't buy it though. I am going to find another five speed and drive it to compare notes.
