I have a 2003 3.8L obviously lol but Im having some serious problems with hesitation during normal acceleration. I have some knowledge of cars but this is seriously giving me issues. I started to notice it hesitating from a stop light and then the engine light came on. I took it to autozone and had it scanned it came out as crankshaft position sensor fault and cylinder 1 misfire. So I replaced the plugs, wires, and the sensor. It's still giving me problems doing the exact same thing. What am I missing?

Go back to the autoparts store and have the alternator tested for correct output and excessive AC ripple. A bad alternator diode will interfer with the cam sensor signal causing problems.

While there have the battery tested.

Are the battery cables clean, tight, and corrosion free?

When the plug wires were replaced, did you follow the factory routing and use all standoffs and looms? Are the plug wires touching any metal parts? Inspect the plug wires for white spots which indicate arcing.

Always post the full DTC codes. There are 1000's and they each have a story to tell. I suspect your DTC is a cam sensor problem and not a crank sensor (CKP). Most cars with CKP sensor issues won't run at all.
