Today my grandfather gave me a mint condition M1 Carbine with a 30 round clip full of ammo. Im prolly gonna order a box of bullets later this week. Im gonna go shoot it tommorrow.

Awesome gun. Those things were used by Airborne troops in WWII. Lighter in weight but not as powerful as an M1 Garand. Strap a Colt 1911 to your side and go nazi hunting.

I've read stories of guys giving their Carbines back to the supply sgt. and sticking with just a 1911 after they'd shoot a Japanese guy 3 times with the carbine and the ****er would still be charging at them.

Still, for nostalgia reasons and target shooting that's a badass gift.

Also, my teacher's dad was a badass Marine Recon guy in Korea, and he didn't seem to have any trouble racking up kills with a Carbine.

My grandfather used one of those in WWII.

Is it a real military carbine or is it a copy? I have wanted one for a long time but they aren't cheap.

They were never intended to replace the garand. They were supposed to be used mainly by building crew and stuff like that. It was actually made to replace the 1911 as a sidearm for some guys I believe.

Its an actual army issue carbine. it was actually the one my great grandfather used when he served.
It is pretty much in mint condition. The date on it is from Nov. 1943. So its in immaculate condition for a 63 year old gun. And as far as the 911 Colt .45 Thats the next gun Im going to get from him. He has 3 of them.

I went shoot that and my Browning .22 pistol today and the M1 is accurate as hell. And its pretty strong. It blew a brick into pretty much dust at 30 yards. Its loud as **** but it dosent really kick that mch.

Yeah, they are cool as ****. not the most powerful gun ive shot. that goes to the 45-70. But they its definately one of the coolest. O rodered some more ammo and a 40 round clip for it.

that is a beautiful gun... I've always wanted to get one, someday I will. The main issue w/ the M1 carbine was in Korea... in the cold months, the n. koreans were wearing such heavy clothing that the short .30 round couldnt penetrate, so a few hits might knock an advancing enemy down but he could also get back up and keep coming. I also think the firing pin was fragile and so the gun required a lot of upkeep to keep it reliable in the winter, but don't quote me on that.

Nice gun. And it's always cool to get one handled down like that, lots of great strories behind it I'm sure. Reminds me of when I was a kid and my uncle would bring his out and we'd all go shooting at turtles and stuff with it. Hell, I was just a skinny little kid and could handle that thing and lay waste to snapping turtles down at the creek. Back then, surplus ammo was as cheap as .22 shells, I doubt there is much surplus ammo for sell cheap like that now days though. in my book any day!!

I couldnt find ANY surplus ammo for this gun. I did find some $10 boxes online though.
