Hey... Look what i installed....PIC

Took about one afternoon for the shifter (B&M hammer) and another afternoon of the dirtiest thing i've ever done on a car which was installing a TCI streetfighter manual/auto valve body. The shifter cable needs some adjustment to better match my C6 tranny detents (Park too far forward & 2nd also a little too far forward for the shifter to properly engage the tranny)

It does look nice on there, but takes some getting used to.

Ive got one on my car but it was there when I bought it. Its a little confusing at first but then its easy.

My friend drove the car home for me on his dealer plate and it took him 5 minutes to find drive.

I havent gotten a chance to try it out slamming gears because I just registered the car today and it rained all day.

I had to put the boot on it because the previous owner didnt hook up the light and I took it apart atleast 3 times because I thought I put the boot on wrong. It has that funny upside down look. I looked at the box and it looks like that right on the box so I guess its fine.

I had one on my 88 back when it had a built auto with trans brake. That trans and shifter setup alone was enough to stop someone from stealing the car. Just trying to get the car into reverse was a multi-step process.

so what happens to the 2nd gear do you just skip it.
I called the tech line at summit and he didn't convince me as far as purchasing the shifter. I would like to know how the rest of you guys shift your autos cause i just don't go straight up i take it back down from 1st to 2nd then 3rd and i'll still be in drive with a gear left 4th(OD).

Am i doing this wrong ?

maybe I am not understanding what you are asking. I believe this shifter is ratchet style shifter which prevents you from going into another gear. It will only slam into one gear at a time. The shift will only go forward enough to let it into one gear. hope that helps

Hey, I think I know what's wrong. That shifter is made for the AOD and unless you change the gate plate inside it, it will not line up properly to a C4 or C6. You need B&M part number 40497... Summit is a full B&M dealer so they should be able to get it for you. Check them out.

Yeah i've seen this part and was intrested in using it...
See i have a AOD TCI street fighter tranny in the LX right now ,but i'm just wondering how you guys shift your auto's if you do?
When i do i go from low 1 to drive then back down to low 1 and it hits another gear(rpm's drop) and i can regulate this gear to my desired rpm. Then i just shift up again to drive and hit another gear . I've tried it from low 1 to drive and it skips a gear and then goes to drive which really sux's.

I have the old B&M Street Stick and a manual valvebody. The old 1-D-1 shuffle can cause both the overdrive and reverse bands to apply prematurely and burn out. What rpm are you trying to shift at? You might be shifting to 2nd too high and when it drops down, it's already at the shift point to go into third and therefore you actually miss second gear all together. That's what was happening with mine and I had to get the manual valvebody to stop burning it up. With a standard AOD, the shift point can't be much higher than 5200-5300 and still get every gear.
