Did Ford build different Hi-Po manifolds for the 289? I purchased a set used off of e-bay and installed them on my 66 Mustang 289 and the h-pipe I purchased from Mustangs Unlimited will not fit. I confirmed the h-pipe is for Hi-Po exhaust. I thought maybe my manifolds are for a different application other than Mustang? The casting numbers I have are: right C42E-9430-A
and the left is: C3OE-9431-B . Need help

The C42E-9430-A might be C4ZE-9430-A Its hard to read.

Those are the same part numbers listed in George Reids interchange book for the Hi-po's. I'd suspect the H pipe needs tweaking to fit. It's likely bent wrong being a 30 something year newer part.

Is there different companys that make exhaust h-pipes? And is there one better than the other as far as quality goes? I am not sure who makes Mustang Unlimiteds exhaust parts?

I never buy pre-made H pipes. There are always fitment issues, it seems. Do yuou have a good shop nearby that can custom build one?

Got the H-Pipe on. I mounted one side down tight and then had to pry the other pipe over to align it up and then tighten it down. Now I have a rubbing issue to deal with. It rubs on the AOD trans. crossmember. At least it is on and now I can get the car to the exhaust shop and have it modified. Thanks for everybodys input.
