I doesn’t matter how big the headlight is. That headlamp was originally designed to have the same peripheral as most any other OEM headlight assembly. Changing to a HID without the projector will result in the same hotspots and lack of peripheral as any other plug and play HID kit. If your headlights were properly working originally, the stock halogens would give you a much better field of view and viewing distance when aimed properly.
As for blinding people with the lift, your headlights simply needed to be re-adjusted for the new height. Of course, with the HID's...it's impossible, as the light is scattered everywhere without pattern.
In general, I think people see how bright HID's are (even when installed improperly) and ingnore the fact that they have lost field of view and distance. In the areas where the light is mostly directed, it's brighter than hell...and everything else seems to be ignored.
