you wont notice much.. the torque might actually go up slightly, but the sound volume will decrease

you'll be surprised how many people actually drive here W/O cats but to us that already live here its no biggie just because they have strict laws on emissions dosent mean that taht we cant run O/R pipes

I run high flows cuz it's cali. But they mostly bother ricers around here. Iv thought about buying a used O/R H for when i lower my car giving me another .75" clearence. If u live around San Diego forget about it, toughest modded car laws in the country due to street racing

That must suck having laws like that. Here in southern illinois i run straights but with cats and never heard a word from the cops besides them saying it sounds good, they could care less if u have cats or not. they only bother you if you are being an idiot and revving on people or racing ricers. ive never seen anyone get a loud exhaust ticket with a v8 or even a harley(mainly becaues they all ride harleys)

i run an offroad X pipe. anything but stock is illegal, so you just have to keep the stock pipe around for your smog check every 2 years.

I think it's all in your head. The difference between a catted and non-catted mid-pipe is all of about 3hp. And as previously stated, you should have picked up a little bit of off idle torque in the process. Are you sure they were welded in properly and you haven't got an exhaust leak? That'll kill power in a hurry.

Is Cali a stickler on decibel levels of your exhaust??? Were suppose to get emission laws similar to Cali in 2009. I've got a Magnapack catback and a Bassani catted X and the decibel check is the only thing that worries me. My stock exhaust stuff is long gone.

the decibel level is not a part of the smog test. it is only a police matter. you can go have it tested at a smog referee station if you get a police citation to get it written off. the car must be under 96.5Db

Do you know if side exhaust is a problem with smog? I am going to add an offroad H or prochamber soon and I want to know what to expect.

Thanks,

i swapped from an O/R BBK X pipe to a catted BBK H and at first it was quieter (but much less raspy) but after driving it all summer most the noise has come back. even my buddy noticed it. i gave him a ride in it when i first switched pipes and one not too long ago and he asked if i did anything to the exh because it sounded a lot louder/deeper now

as long as you switch back to the stock unmodified H pipe you are good.

I run sidepipes in Cali and i dont even change them out when i smog and i don't even have a mufflers, just a small barrel resonators. I just replace the stock H-pipe w/ 6 cats (lol) and i pass - sounds like **** tho.
