as you all know, i bypass my smog pump. when the car is on a cold start, the idle sits normal for a few seconds, CEL blinks on and then it jumps up to around 1500 rpms for about 5 secs and drops back to normal. the CEL disappears. i heard it was timing that needs to be set for it to know its operating under a shorter belt could it be the IAC that needs to be cleaned or replaced ?

thanks

i didnt remove the smog pump whatsoever until i get a delete kit. for now im just bypassing it. i didnt pull any codes as yet. the car runs good but when its on a cold start, this happens for a few seconds. i tried adjusting my idle screw. somehow im believing it could be the IAC. but ill replace it once i get my TB installed. could it be timing related ?

Fix this issue before you start making adjustments or replacing parts. Otherwise your variables go higher.

If it only does it for a few seconds and otherwise it idles fine, then get that code pulled. It's probably not a hard adjustment (like your idle screw) if it only does acts funny upon rare occasion. Getting codes only takes a few mins.

Good luck.

FIXED IT ! i replace the coil w/ a new 1 and did some adjustments. i dont know if its thatbut i dont know. actually i felt a little difference by bypassing the pump.

thanks
