Highest HP/Torque for N/A 351W? (stroked to 408)

I have seen a bunch of crate motor's claiming 500hp+ but that is at the crank, wondering what people are seeing at the wheels and what setup you have. I would llike to be pushing 450hp+ at the wheels on my 67.

Thanks

450 at the wheels would be hard to do with a NA 351 and still be streetable. You would probably have to do a stroker. I am shooting for close to 400 at the wheels with mine, and that is pushing it.

Agreed.

350HP at the wheels would be a "very healthy" engine. 400HP at the wheels is aproaching the limit of what you would want to run on the street.

I am planning on a 408 stroker. And depends on what you definition of streetable is. It obviously wouldn't be a daily driver. But more of a sunday cruise and car shows. I guess I am curious as to where the loss of power is comming from. I got a buddy with a c5 vette that has around 650hp at the wheels and he considers that streetable. (although that is supercharged)

Figure on 15-20% friction losses with water pump, fan, alternator, tranny and rear axle all stealing dyno HP. Manual trans around 15% and auto more cost more like 20%. So if you had a stick car with 530 dyno HP *.85 = 450 RWHP.
I have a 911 turbo with 310 RWHP and it is impressively fast. I can only imagine an honest 450 RWHO would be sick.

i am hoping for sick :-) I am trying to a list of parts and combinations that are known good for HP production, heads an intake mainly.

I noticed a lot of people use the AFR's but my original plan was the World Windsor SR. (fully ported and pollished of course). I also see a split on the intake between the edlebrock airgap and the Victor Jr.

Keith Craft has a 408 stroker that is advertised as 575hp but only 500 ft/lbs torque and another that is 500hp/500ft lbs torque.

The 575 hp use the AFR 205 ported and polished heads so I am not sure if the world heads will owrk as well (5cc less). They also use the Vistor Jr intake on that one. The 500 hp uses AFR 185's so I would hope that the World would port matched and polished would bump it up a bit and a better intake as well.

I dunno, so many choices just trying to feel out what others have done and with what results.
