Is there a difference between 65-66 Hipo exhaust manifolds and the 351W manifolds.

Pypes makes extensions to connect 2.5 exhaust to header back kits. Supposedly they are for 351 W manifolds.

They're quite different, especially the location of the exits.

The left sides are nearly identical, the early right 351 unit is as well from pics I've seen.

the 351w manifolds actually flow a bit more than the Hi-Po manifolds but not a ton, but when you're talking about stock cast iron manifolds any is better.

Not sure about the hipo manifolds but the 351w manifolds can be ported to flow as well as just about any header.

They may be similar, but I don't think an intermediate pipe for 351W manifolds will fit the Hipo's. Here are some pics:

The drivers side for the 351w manifolds exit different depending on which year it is. I think 69 exits down and 70 exits straight back.... I can't remember which

close, 69 and 70 both exit down but the 69 has a kickout at the end that points it outward, 70 doesn't have that. i have no idea why they did it that way either.

an intermediate pipe won't interchange between a 289 and a 351w manifold becauase the exits are so different.
