I took a left turn a little too close and hit the rear wheel on a raised 6" cement curb @ 15-20 mph
I got a nice scrape on the lip of the wheel and the tire looks pushed in 1mm more from the lip.

What type of axles do these have, are they semi-floating or something? and how/what should I check for mechanical damage. It drove fine and did not make any strange noises. how likely there is damage?

I did the same thing 3 weeks after I bought my car, not as bad though.

If it bothers you that much you could probs pick up another one cheap (used).

OK it looks alot better now after I busted out my detailing stuff and dremel.

leveled off gouges with sanding attachment 5,000 rpm
applied metal polsh with wool buffing wheel 10,000 rpm
applied 3M finecut by hand
meg's swirl free polish by hand

I'll have pics up soon

thanks for the help, i was only really concerned about mechanical damage

oh no man!!! be thankful!

i was goin("driftin") round a turn in my last car, an 03 camry, and MAULED over this 5" curb goin like 40. course i told my parents i hit a pot hole, it was rainin and lost control, but the fix was insane.

the whole control arm was twisted, mechanic (old friend) said he had only seen a control arm damaged as bad as mine in accidents....so we ahd to replace control arm, struts, and some of the other components in that area. turned out to be 800 some dollars...labor required the front part of the car to be taken off and engine removed partially to get to bolts attaching control arm to the frame. he said i'd have been better off popping the tire and bending the rim. that sucked. then 2 days later i got a speeding ticket (78 in a 45, $305)...bad bad luck. lol.

sorry, i ramble a lot..
