What's up Stangnet. I have been blessed with a nice little end of the year bonus and I plan on spending about $8K on the Stang.

I have two quotes on the table:

* TS1000-05-INT KIT 140 8-13 PSI KIT ('05 UP 4.6 GT) INTERCOOLED INCLUDES BOOST-A-PUMP, FLASH TUNE, COOL AIR KIT, 90MM METER, 39LB INJ, 2.6L

$5799+$1200 install + $60 shipping= $7060

OR

Intercooled Procharger Kit (05 UP 4.6 GT)

$4950 + $1200 + $0 shipping = $6150

I know that the KB will give me more power across all RPM's and the Procharger is better in the upper RPM's. I like the look of the KB and I like the fact it will feel stronger in the 2-4K RPM range. That is important to me.

But the $900 difference in cost is important to me as well because I sink that into springs, shocks struts, and panhard bar. Maybe some LCA's as well.

Thoughts etc.....

PS...I am very excited because this dream car of mine is starting to become a reality!!

Tough choice I see.. If it's really really important go with the KB or, take the procharger and bump the boost to 11lbs, it's a simple 98.00 pulley. The quoted 9 lb pulley only makes 8 on stock manifolds anyway, and even less with free flowing long tubes on the car.

You'll still be making most of your power on the big end, but the added psi on the lower end will sort of cover up by making your beginning boost start around 7 or 8 lbs climbing to 11 on the tall rpm end rather than 5-9lbs.. Then go get that suspension - your gonna need it.

It's a thought - congrats on the bonus..

Tough decision Apex...the same one I had back in September! :D

Emay has the ProCharger and his car is simply a beast. I decided to go the Kenne Bell route. Would I do it again...Good question...I don't know. The amount of work needed to install the Kenne Bell is probably 10 times greater than the Procharger install. I know because I was there just about everynight watching Erin (Emay), my cigar in hand, helping him with what little I could. His aggravation sometimes getting the better of him, swearing at the inch and half thick manual. :rlaugh: We did have a few problems with the tune Kenne Bell sent due to the fact that Ford had reflashed my PCM and never marked it as such. Not really Kenne Bells fault but that added almost another 7 or 8 days to the total install time of almost 2 weeks. Right now I am running the 8 lb pulley with boost readings in the 12 psi range. Don't get me wrong, I love the KB and my car is fast and I am happy with it even though I just burned out a clutch!

Just...

Would I do it again...???

Let me think about it a little more and get back to this thread.

Yeah, that was something left out. However re-thinking the small aggrevation the only real thing I disliked is having to cut back multiple wiring harnesses and hacking up the core support for the new CAI location.

I'm meticulous with wiring, so KB having me dig into multiple harnesses sent me over the edge because anything less than perfection once completed would just have me do the job twice. I spent much time pissing and moaning about that as my procharger install only involved relocation of maf wiring and it wasn't much of a move to do it. Kb obviously takes the throttle body to the passenger firewall, a significant move.

Lack of a tune issue would have lessen the frustration. They blamed it on a vacuum leak at first and then we spent a week and a half express mailing SCT tuner boxes back and forth until they got it right with the flashed TB..

Ah....Good Times!!!

Thanks guys for sharing your experiences. I'll have a shop doing the install, but the KB sounds like it is a tough install. That kind of suprises me because when you look at the 2 finished products, the Procharger looks like it would be the tough install.

So if I go the Procharger route, you would suggest a bigger pulley? Is that something I can order straight from Procharger?

The Procharger is very enticing because it would save me some cash for the suspension mods and or clutch upgrade.

You would technically be going with a smaller pulley to produce more boost. Smaller pulley zings (for lack of a better term) faster thus more boost.

Standard is like a 4.25 or 4.5 can't remember. Procharger has it fairly well figured out how many lbs each incremental step down in size will produce based on oyur overall set up.

Honestly between the two you can't go wrong, this includes the whipple kit as well, all very well put together, and each can produce enough power to max out the stock internals of our motors. Or in Heavy's case max out the stock clutch in about 2 months time..
