i called a few places(jegs, summit, Demon, and more) yesterday to get opinions on carbs for my car. i didnt get very far...they seemed to only car about either making money or getting the call over with....

Im looking for a carb for my 289, 30 over, cam at .050 = intake 204, exhaust 214; 112 lop; valve lift intake 448 and exhaust is 472. c4 tranny, i will be using a performer rpm manifold. i need a carb that will be user friendly but nto to the point where i will give up alot of power for it. my car is a daily driver but im 21 years old so im in her alot. i need any and all suggestions.

i have a new edelbrock 600cfm that i could use so i wouldnt spend any money or i could spend money and get something better? thanks

The first part of this quote says go with an Edelbrock carb.
The second part of the quote SRCREAMS use the Edlebrock.
I just took an Edelbrock 600 off of my 13 second coupe for a Demon. The Eddy never gave me one ounce of problems and will "stay in tune" easily. I think it's a great carb. I say use it and spend money elswhere.

I am with 2bav8.

IMO Demon>Holley>Edelbrock but for your application the Edelbrock should be just fine and they make excellent daily drivers carbs...stick with it :nice:

for a DD definitely go with the e'brock, it is an excellent street carb, the only reason i went with a demon on my last build is beacause the car will no longer have to endure the rigors of daily use.

C Harris put just right. Why spend the money for a demon when the Edle will suit you just fine. I had a similar setup as yours on my 302, same profile cam, with a 600 cfm carb. 'Cept mine was a Holley. Trust me 600 cfm is enough no matter what brand.
