my friend has about 40 feet of galvanized 3 inch pipe. i have long tube headers, can i make an x pipe with this tubing and get the exhaust shop to weld it up or would there be no real difference in power. i have a gutted stock h pipe now but would this homemade 3 inch x pipe be worth doing. my flows are not 3 inch but my tailpipes are.

3 inch exhaust would not be a good idea with your motor. 2.5 is plenty.

I had a custom x-pipe made at a good shop. It was cheaper than any x-pipe out there and it sounds absolutly unreal.

3" plumbing pipe would weigh a ton. You can't bend that either.

should i do it like this where the pipes go directly into each other or like this where they meet and then bend out.you know where i cut a hole in one side of ecah pipe, then weld them together and bend the ends to make it look like and x.

I would get a few u bends and some sheet metal and make a bassani style X. The Dr. Gas style would be easier, but that's just a crossover tube. The bassani style is a ~tuned chamber.

what about an piece from an old ranger hood. would that be a good sheet metal to work with. i can do this in my time at the house when i am bored and maybe take a pic and show yall how ugly or perfect it looks.
