Ok today i was messing around with my car under the hood, and figured i would once and for all take off my hood blanket since its pretty nasty and ugly. In doing so one of the clips holds a metal ring to the blanket which follows a ground strap to the hinge. I looked in my Chiltons, figured it was for the under-hood lamp(which my car doesn't have). Just for the hell of it i checked my headlights and they work, as does my car starting up. What i'm asking is are there any ill-affects of me removing this? I've read about other guys doing it and not having problems.

thanks

It's for the radio actually. Put it on AM and you'll see ;)

I am putting my hood blanket back on tomorrow. I will post pictures tomorrow to show the reason as to this. I guess the Texas sun and the engine heat aren't mixing too well. Where the push-pins are, the paint is beginning to bubble up. I will post pictures of this tomorrow to show what I mean.

Well obviously i don't listen to AM so i guess i don't have to worry about it. Thanks for the info tho. I'll see if taking it off does anything to the paint on the hood, then i'll decide whether to put it back on or not.

It's fiberglass and I have always heard that it never caused problems so I yanked mine off aswell. I noticed a few days ago at night, that when the car had cooled off and dew was on the car, I could see the circle areas where the push pins hold the liner in and noticed they had bumps on them. I drive my car as a daily so it sees quite a few miles and heat, so maybe that is the difference between me and the others haha. I will include a picture to show what I mean.

I will have to include pictures from later tonight. It's entirely too bright out to get a decent picture with my camera :rlaugh:but if you look about 2 inches to the right of my fingers, you'll see the first area, then to its right is another. The pictures I take later on will show them better.
