I currently have a 351W with a Stealth intake, Holley Street Avenger carb and stock air cleaner and have around 1/2" clearance to the hood. I'm planning on putting in a Vic Jr. intake, Holley 4150 carb and a K&N drop base air filter (2.75" height from carb flange).

Will the swap clear the hood??

It's gonna be close. Worst case scenario just get a set of RMP lowering engine mounts. They're great quality and will help with any clearance issues.

with the 289/302 engine you have just enough clearance. With a 351 it doesnt work ! You are going to hit the hood

I'm going to say that no it won't fit.
I have a 351w with a Performer RPM intake, Edelbrock carb and a drop base air cleaner and it just barely clears.

I'm considering switching back to a non-GT hood, and cutting a hole for the filter and covering it with a CJ scoop. If I can ever get the rest of the small things I need to get the TFS Twisted Wedge heads on that engine, a Victor JR may soon follow, meaning I won't have a choice. But at least that way is cheaper than a cowl hood.
