 So what's up with these flimsy Mustang hood hingies. Are they supposed to bend with the spring pressure?
I need the inside scoop on how to get my hood aligned properly. New hinges, there is resistance keeping the back of the hood from coming down smoothly. It wants to skew to the passenger side. How much gap should there be between the cowl and the hood.

Help!

mine bent last year. turns out that one of the Nuts that were welded to the engine bay had come loose.

the only advice I have about the hood is to tighten the bolts just enough so it will not slide around. but loose enough to still be slid around with force.

then close the hood and push it until the cowl area lines up, and the sides do as well.

then slowly open the hood without messing up the alignement and tighten the bolts.

there is probably a better way of doing it. but that pretty much worked for me.

Yea, what he said, but take out the hood latch as well... that way you don't have to mess with it "miss-aligning" when your trying to line up the gaps. When you get your hood where you want it, install the hood latch.
