Hood hinge "nuts"

Does anyone happen to know where I can find the "nuts" that are welded into the aprons that allow the hood hinges to be bolted to the aprons? I cross threaded one, broke the weld and subsequently lost it. Go me. I haven't had any luck with the mustang vendors, like Mustangs Unlimited, etc. I suppose I could weld a nut on there, but if I can buy the part I'd prefer that. Thanks.

That is weird that this came up a few days apart. Its the first time I have ever seen it brought up.

I searched a long time ago for body bolt and nut lits, and I found one online at the time that looked like it might have the nuts in it based on the picture. Judging by how hard these are to find, I am guessing the pic was actually for a kit that wasn't a Mustang, because I haven't seen it since. The replacement aprons have em welded in. I think I will go with just a nut and bolt on mine to hold it close till it goes into a body shop.

If I had a welder, I would do that, but I dont.

Something simillar happened to me my bolt broke in two. Since I was going to paint the engine bay I bought 3 nuts and 5 washers. Yep forgot one, I decided to put 3 new nuts since one was gone. On the inside I put a washer, and under the fender I put another washer then the nut held by the bolt and hinge not to mess up the spot. Welded the nut to washer and the inside washer got welded too. Actually by accident but it ended up being better like that.

I too have used the welded inner washer/outer washer with nut trick and it works well.

An option would be to buy a repro apron and transplant the nut to the old apron, tack welding it in place. This is an expensive fix ($35 or so for the apron) but could be done if a good resto job is desired. I would first make sure that the repro used the correct half moon nuts though . . . .
