looking to put a hood lock on my 66 and wanted to get some input from anyone who has one: where they got it, or how they built it, and what type they suggest.

my only experience is with the chain/cable and a padlock, is this pretty much it?

thanks

Ask GP0001 about hood locks. I think he had an issue with them at one point in time. At least, i think it was him.

Chapman used to make a nice one that was cable actuated from under the dash. It also had an ignition kill and used a circular type key lock.

I can't find one from Chapamn anymore but did come accross this: Hood Lock

Enjoy shopping!

i plan on using the inside release from an 80's ford pickup. it uses a ford door key for the lock on the release handle and can be keyed to match your current door key

We adapted one from a '70s big Oldsmobile. It's the cable release type (with the handle under the dash) and bolted in with no modifications at all. Even the mounting bolt holes lined up. Simply adjusted it to grab the hood catch. Price: $5 from the u-pull-it yard.
