I put my stock hood back on last night and had trouble aligning it. I finally got it where it looked ok and closed it. Well, apparently it isn't aligned 100% because it doesn't come flush w/ the front bumper cover where the "ford" blue oval is. The real issue here is that the hood will not open!

I pull on the release lever under the dash and it does not do anything. I've pulled kinda hard and don't wanna pull much harder in fear of stretching or damaging the realease cable. The problem lies w/ the primary latch which is attached to the cable, of course, but it also could be related to the hood sitting about 1/8-1/4 inch too far back.

I'm at a loss here. I don't really want to drive the car unless I can pop the hood. Any ideas?

did you try having a friend gently bang on the hood while you pull the lever or try to put some pressure on it. perhaps lifting whit his fingers as you pull latch?

Good advice from 86BC about having someone push down real lightly on the hood. It can untension the latch enough to release.

Otherwise, jack up the front end and lay underneath it. You'll see the latch assembly from the bottom.
You can manually undo the release from below the car.

Good luck James.

got it up by having someone gently push down and popping the release lever as suggested. Thanks:SNSign:

Now I get to play w/ the hood to get it adjusted
